Several people in my life are in the process of overcoming. Overcoming an addiction, a broken heart, a long illness. One dear soul I love is saying goodbye to her family as she gets ready to meet the Lord.
Overcomers are the true warriors.
To overcome, in Scripture, means to hear God’s voice, then to follow it in obedience and perseverance. It means to endure to the end, despite suffering, shame, rejection and death.
The Greek word most often translated “overcomer” stems from the word nike which means “to carry off the victory”. Nike, it turns out, is much more than a wonderful shoe.
I combined a colored pencil drawing of a Corinthian column with a beautiful old font to create this print, I like the contrast of these two elements. Powerful, yet elegent and ornate. Most of all, (I hope) inspiring.
Who wouldn’t want to be a pillar in God’s temple?
